HAWAII FOODBANK AND BURGERS ON THE EDGE RAISE FUNDS

WHAT:             Top 7 Burger Finalists Donate To The Hawaii Foodbank

                        WHEN:             June 14 - 30, 2010

 

MORE:             A U.S. Navy Mechanic, Retired Florist of 30 years, International Business Consultant,

Senior Software Engineer, Teacher / Realtor, and a Admin Assistant are the six finalists for the Burger Genius II contest at Burgers On The Edge.  The 2010 Contender (Eric Young) last year winner,  Thai-rific burger will compete with his NEW burger the Kung POW burger (garlic hoisin sauce) against the contestants! From now until June 30, a portion of their Burger Genius competition sales will help support the Hawaii Foodbank.

 

                        The first phase of the contest ran through May 31 with almost 500 entries—both written and video! The six finalists are now entered into a sales contest.  The six winning entries (two contenders per category: Beef, Turkey and Veggie) will go burger to burger with the winner in each category being decided by the highest sales in the month of June.  One winner in each category will be announced on July 7, the anniversary week of Burgers On The Edge, on KHON-Fox at 9 p.m. on the Burger Genius TV show.

 

The 2010 Burger Genius finalists are as follows:

Beef Patty: The Southern Belle w/ fried green tomatoes (Gena Hunt) vs. Da Local Kine Burger w/ Li Hing Mui Mayo (Mike Smith)

Turkey Patty: Mr. Smarty Pants w/ Basil Pesto  (Vincent Kimura)  vs. Save The Chickens w/ cream of mushroom  (Ryan Kanno)

Veggie Patty: Plan B w/ panko crusted patty and tonkatsu sauce  (Shay Fukayama) vs. Garden Isle Burger w/Thai Basil Pesto  (Angela Botelho)

                        In addition to bragging rights and a spot on the menu, the three winning contestants (Beef, Turkey, and Veggie Burger) will receive $200 cash and burgers for a year!  Please bring canned goods for the Hawaii Foodbank to Burgers on the Edge during this time, whether you enter the contest or not. The Top Five Most Needed Foods are:

  • Canned meats & tuna
  • Canned spaghetti, chili and corned beef hash
  • Canned soups
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned fruits

 

Monetary donations will also be accepted. Your $10 donation enables the Hawaii Foodbank to distribute food for 25 meals.                                                       ###
